Happy New Year 2017

Happy New Year 2017!

Victory! Sort of. It took three phone calls and a texted picture to my favorite plumber, but the toilet fill valve and supply line have been replaced. On a second trip to the hardware store, I’m not positive I got sent home with the right gasket for the shut-off valve, so that means it doesn’t shut off yet, (it didn’t before) so I still have to shut off the main house valve in order to work on that toilet. I’m hoping that won’t be for another fifteen years.

I so dreaded attempting that repair, but of course, I am glad that I did it – now that it’s done. I don’t know what the minimum house call charge from a plumber is these days, but I’m sure I wouldn’t have liked paying it. I re-caulked the kitchen baseboard where the new floor changed the baseboard height. It looks much better, and I decided I shall do my own puttying and painting of the baseboards and trim come February. Yes, my February list is already growing. 2017 is going to fly by too.

The holiday decorations are down, which is both sad and refreshing. I clean at the same time I take them down, and since I had only put up a small smattering of them, it didn’t take long at all. I hope I can decorate the whole house next year, (no new floors or extra traveling), and then fill the house with grandkids and Crunch Drop cookies – and matching pajamas. What a lovely thought.

So, again, Happy and Healthy 2017 to us all! (If you can believe it, I actually stayed up till midnight and got to see live fireworks. I haven’t done that in years.) dsc_0427
