Stay Cool

A camping get-away is a fun reminder of how comfortable our homes and lives have become in modern times. The feel of clean hands and hair, the softness of our beds, the ease of cooking instantly are all inventions of recent history. There is something to be said though, for the wonder of looking up at the stars without city lights to dim their beauty.

Just the other day, I used my grill for the first time this summer. That was nice. When we were done with dinner, we roasted a marshmallow for a s’more on it. The method works but certainly lacks the ambiance of sitting around an open fire telling scary stories.

Hopefully, the rest of my rocks will get placed today. I’m not holding my breath that the workers actually show up. In that case, I’ll have to figure out how to hire someone else for an hour’s worth of moving heavy rocks.

My grandsons are coming for four days. I need to figure out some activities ahead of time, don’t I? We’ll have to do some painting, which means I’ll have to round up some canvas, which means a trip to the store after the rocks get placed, if they do. I guess that sort of maps out my day. Ahh summer.

Stay cool everyone.
