My heart has swelled and my chest feels tight, there is so much joy running through me. I am proud and happy for my son and daughter-in-law with the delivery of their first baby. One might think that by the fourth grandchild, the reaction wouldn’t be quite so pronounced as for the first one, but no, it’s exactly the same. I found myself crying at 2am and then had to watch TV because I could in no way go back to sleep. What! Sleep! Congratulations you three!
Looks like we are going to have a white Thanksgiving. Hopefully, that won’t slow down any of our guests from joining us. I may have to improvise for chairs. What a fun problem to have! Our basic menu is very traditional, but who knows what our guests will bring to this potluck affair we are planning. We put the six year old in charge of decorations, my son-in-law in charge of the turkey, and several people on wine duty. We should be fine.
With inspiration from a friend, I have challenged myself to do 10,000 steps and 10 flights of stairs each day. So far, so good. The only downside is having (or wanting) to keep my phone on me at all times or sacrifice credit for steps taken while the phone sits on my desk. I got out my old fanny-pack and put it to use once again. Thanksgiving day is going to challenge my challenge. I will let that day go, family and friends are more important.
So many of you, my family, and good friends across the country will be celebrating with your own families tomorrow. I wish all of you a wonderful day, a safe and happy holiday season, and peace in your hearts. I’ll be wearing the smile you gave me. Barbara
