Change is a Coming!

Ok, well now, for those of you who think you have your ducks all lined up, here is a good thought for you to ponder. (I have been doing some estate planning – hence the research). I just asked and found out something I didn’t know about TOD (Transfer on Death) accounts with a brokerage firm. If an account has two or more listed beneficiaries, and one of them dies at the same time as the account holder (not out of the realm of possibility that two family members die in the same accident), the entire account goes to the remaining beneficiary – leaving the heirs of the beneficiary that died out in the cold. The same can go for your POD’s at a bank, so I suggest you check into it – if that doesn’t fit into your plans. There are ways to fix the problem.

Is it just me or is the weather a little bit odd lately?

I printed the first draft of my fantasy novel and I’m putting it out for critique from my reading group. Exciting! In the meantime, I am going back to work on Compass Point. It will be good to get away from the fantasy for a while, so I can look at it with fresh eyes when the comments come in. The same goes for Compass Point. I’ve been away long enough to be objective, and I’m willing to tear it apart and fix it.

I switched out the winter bedspread for the summer one. It never ceases to amaze me how big an impact such a little change like that has for me. I do believe I like change. The Colorado seasons kind of do that for me also, although I wish we could skip the short daylight hours in the winter. I can dress warm and stay in when the weather’s bad, but I like sunshine and the shorter days don’t cut the mustard.

and so it goes…
