4th of July – Chill(y) Out

I am tired tonight from a crazy good day. I painted trim in the kitchen from the remodel, and window trim outside. I mowed and edged the lawn. I planted and transplanted a couple of plants (tweaking the artwork in my yard), drug hoses around because the sprinkler repair man still hasn’t shown up, and ran errands including two trips to the big box store.
I’m not sure why it took me so long, but today I finally cooked on my new range top. It works great! Now to have a big family gathering so we see how it all works under pressure. (haha – its me that doesn’t work under pressure.)
I think I lost a bit (really all) of my self-discipline while on vacation. I’m not sure if I accidentally left it behind in Hawaii, or if it slipped out of my suitcase and stayed behind on its own (can’t say as I blame it), but it is not hanging around here, that I have figured out in the week since being home.
I have worked on the novel a couple of times, but the time frame is sporadic, at best. I suppose it will come back, the self-discipline that is, but that sounds so ‘not cool,’ so not summer ‘fun’-ish, that I can’t say I’m looking for it very hard. Actually, I’m not looking for it at all.
I found out where to go to watch some fire-works and I’m going to make sure I have hot-dogs (maybe chilly dogs – I love them!) for the 4th. Maybe I’ll try firing up my grill for the first time this year. That’s all I will plan for this holiday. I’m thinking that chilling out is a nice thing to be able to do, and I’m not going to squander the opportunity because of the OCD guilt that attacks me when I’m not busy. I shall overcome and be Independent! (Pardon the Pun) Happy Fourth of July to all of you.
