Cooking and Cleaning

Why is it that when you can sleep in – you’re wide awake, (boinggg!) and couldn’t sleep if you tried, but when you have to get up – you’re groggy and getting out of bed is like pushing molasses up hill? I have not figured this phenomena out yet – I know it is mental – but really, come on, sleeping in sounds so nice.
The pretty pink blossomed plum tree in my new front yard has fireblight. Shucks. So, it is going to go the way of the pines and the junipers that are overcrowding my yard. I haven’t decided what to replace it with, hopefully something not so susceptible to fireblight, but it seems that everything with the gorgeous blossoms is subject to that disease. More research is needed. I used to know more on the subject, but alas, a few too many decades have passed since I owned a peach orchard and was fairly fluent in tree-ology (my made up word for arboriculture).
The kitchen is now completely torn up. I am reduced to cooking microwave meals and actually, that is not all that bad, except that it becomes a habit so down the road when I have a kitchen again, I will have to let go of the convenience and that is never easy. I have learned to love cooking (healthy) in the last few years, and hopefully, the kitchen won’t be torn up for too long.
My granddaughter thought the carpenter was too noisy as he tore out the countertops. After he left though, she grabbed the broom and had a grand time sweeping the dust around the kitchen. So helpful, what would I do without her? Actually, she loves to dust and we had fun, each with our own rag, dusting the house together. She gets the down low and I get the up high. My knees are very grateful for the help!
