Taxes, shootings, moving

Here is a partial list of things I don’t like: income taxes, property taxes, taxes in general, any taxes that come due right after you pay the moving bill and order new countertops. My bad – as the saying goes. Jack Benny always said timing is every thing – and the timing sucks this year.

Then there is the fact that I want to have a bunch of trees and bushes removed from the new yard. That one is going to wait a while. Other than that, things are progressing in the new house. Sure, there are still boxes everywhere, but I now have silverware to eat with and plates to put the food on. Maybe I’ll try actually fixing a meal tomorrow instead of putting a frozen meal in the microwave or just eating an apple.

Today, another shooting took place at Fort Hood in Texas. I still don’t know what to say to such a violent act. I am fully aware of how much stress our military is under from multiple deployments and I can truly say from experience that stress does incredibly awful things to a person. I feel utter despair for the families of any victims today. There is no easy solution either. None at all. My prayers go to the innocent and their families – and in the case of this being PTSD related – all of the families need our prayers.
