Another Successful Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Once again, thanks to all who walked, donated, and sponsored all of the thousands who showed up for the Walk To End Alzheimer’s across the country over the past few weekends. Our Badger Team had a great day and our team captain, Rhya, age 4, made it all the way. Her first year, she was in a stroller, her second year she rode a bike with a push handle for the adults to help her, and this year she walked the 5K. What a trooper!

Last night, three deer came up to the house to get a drink out of the bird baths and to munch any and every tasty morsel of grass and flower. My granddaughter delighted in them, asking me every few minutes what they were thinking now. That’s not an easy question to answer after the first few times. After a while, she took over and is already making up wonderful stories – just like her mother used to do – and I suppose just like her grandmother does.

Each night, my granddaughter let her imaginary dog, Coco, sleep in my bed so I wouldn’t be alone. What a sweet gesture. That is in spite of the fact that I put out fall decorations before she got here. She was none too pleased about that. Oh man, I hate to tell her that my memory about such things is only going to get worse – not better.

I am off to Minnesota to do a little fishing, a little boating, a little family gathering and a little picture taking. Hopefully, I can keep the blog on its regular schedule – but you are forewarned in the event I end up somewhere with no Wi-Fi. It happens! And if it does, I’m probably in some remote place, enjoying the turn of the colors, the call of the loon, and the swish of the paddle. To Autumn. Enjoy.
