Friendships

When they’re good – they’re good. Over the years I’ve noticed that no matter how much time goes by since I’ve seen some of my friends – nothing changes. We fall right back into our friendship exactly where we left off. What a comfort knowing you won’t lose that connection and also knowing you can go there anytime you need to. It’s not that way with everyone – only a handful – but what a precious handful it is. Bless you all.

So – Grandma time is about to commence again. My grandson ( and his mom – lol -I love to write it this way because I know she reads my blog – Hi Honey! ) is coming and we are going on a road trip to help my mom celebrate her 93rd birthday! Congratulations Mom. She said she would rather skip it. No way. I am so proud of her. She is still a sharp fox and beats me at cards all the time. She also has an uncle a few years older than her and a sister one year younger – all still kicking. What a blessing to have that gene pool in my background.

There are so many blessings in life; the trick is to appreciate them, to focus on the good rather than whine about the bad. I raised my kids on the philosophy that if you want to feel sorry for yourself – take a moment first to look around and you will quickly see someone who is worst off than you. Then, even better, give them a hand. That will take your mind off your troubles faster than anything else. It’ll also help you become the kind of friend in the handful of friends who is so precious.

I won’t be blogging on Thursday – I’ll be partying – so I’ll write again next Monday. Have a good week.
