Where did this week go?

Here it is, Thursday morning, and I realize I haven’t even thought about a blog topic for today. Oops.

It’s not that I haven’t been busy nor that I don’t have a lot yet to do. I go on the road this coming weekend and don’t quit until five days before Christmas. Just the thought of that is exciting and exhausting.

My current novel project is coming along. The protagonist of the story, Michael, is about to land in his biggest pot of soup yet. After driving across the country, he is hiking in Capitol Reef National Park in Utah, and is going to get in big trouble. I will go back to the park this coming spring to be sure I remember the details correctly. I love this kind of research! Capitol Reef was one of my favorite parks, and one that when I left it, I felt like I hadn’t seen everything and I wanted to return to do it justice. I’ll get two birds with one stone on this coming trip in the spring. I have adjusted my National Park goal since realizing it is more important for me to see each park fully rather than getting just a glimpse while trying to get to all of them.

So, that’s it. No big philosophy or thoughts on life from me today. My fifth children’s book, “Badger Grows Up” is now on the shelves and keeping me busy. You can find it at http://www.thebadgerbooks.com. It is an endearing book and Shannon did an outstanding job on the artwork. To have all five of the set finally done is a wonderful accomplishment. I have to thank my co-writer/editor Laura, my publisher and the illustrators for helping me get all the way through the process. We did it!

Now, where did this week go?
