Things in Threes

It seems as if I am frantic to get in enough hiking before winter. I don’t know why since I enjoy snow-shoeing so much. I went to the mountains this week to see the colors and check out a new area I have never hiked before, The Crags. I was not disappointed. The brilliant yellows interspersed with a small percentage of coral for contrast was a delight, as always, and The Crags is a beautiful area with small streams, gorgeous views and good trails.

An old saying is that things come in threes. Well, I had to buy new tires and my microwave just went on the fritz. I’ve been wanting a new vacuum. You don’t suppose wishing could make it so?

Today is a momentous day. One friend has surgery, another returns from Italy. Work is piling up and that is good. I am slowly whittling down the list of fall chores, winding up the hoses (we got another inch of rain) and tilling under the soil in the part of the garden that is done for the year. The tomatoes keep coming and I never dig the carrots until after the first frost. I cannot believe September is almost gone. Next thing you know I’ll be working on the annual Christmas letter!
